I built EasyCrosstabs after spending nearly a decade at a global research and advisory firm where I ran a research team and managed a $100,000 data analysis platform. It was a powerful tool, sure, but also overpriced and bloated with features we never touched.

When I went solo as a consultant, I ran into a problem. Excel and Sheets are tedious for creating crosstabs, and enterprise platforms assume you have IT support and a corporate budget. Smart import wizard — automatically detects data start row and header structure (including Qualtrics' three-row format) and intelligently consolidates question numbers and question text across multi-row headers for automated table labeling
Smart column exclusion — identifies and pre-excludes metadata columns (respondent IDs, timestamps, IP addresses) and numeric continuous inputs like sliders and budget fields, regardless of how they are formatted or labeled
Smart scale detection — automatically recognizes Likert scales, frequency scales, agreement scales, and custom ordinal sequences, sorting most response scales into the correct logical order (drag-and-drop reordering available for uncommon scales)
Smart survey data handling — corrects base sizes for multi-select questions, manages skip and display logic where indicated, and resolves duplicate headers and UTF-8 encoding issues so your data is clear and accurate
